Jive.to! is a short URL service specifically targetted at the music industry. Whether it's a link to your latest YouTube video, a review of that next must-have peice of studio gear, or just an informative article you want to link to on your blog, Jive.to! is the new musician-friendly alternative!Of course, anyone can use Jive.to!

It's simple to use.. just enter the URL and click "Jive!" - you'll then be given a much shorter URL to pass around to your friends and colleagues. And best of all... this service is provided completely free by Musoswire!

Go on, try it out... visit http://jive.to/ today!

someone may have told you and/or you may not care but your app allows entering of junk and code injection, i would have the app see if it can connect to target before adding it to the db and offering up a url, also strip_tags() is your friend if asp has that kinda thing

< ?
$a = 'RTFM';
$b = 'STFU';
echo $a.' & '.$b;
?>

Thanks for the tip!

I'm actually using PHP for this project, so strip_tags() is usuable. Could you point me to some information regarding how to avoid the injection attacks you speak of!?

I have a bigger problem.

I've had an email from Tonic.to (the registrars) saying that they've had complaints about spam from the domain. Technically the spam isn't from the domain, but people are using Jive.to URLs and sending the links in spam messages.

Now, as far as I can work out, there's no way for me to stop that, and it would be VERY difficult to filter out dodgy domains?! I can't imagine that is possible... any thoughts?!

i know your not going to like it but i would say that you would have to start domain and IP "maybe even subnet" blocking if you want to avoid being shut down, but there maybe a better way out there, keep looking as well

Do you have control of the server the site is hosted on?

Yes :o)

It's back up by the way. I've implemented some form of scanning (to prevent, for example.. deep linking Jives, or jives to other short url services). Still haven't done the strip tags thing, need to look that up.

Also the subnet / ip blocking stuff might be useful to know about still...
